Brexit Impact Study Event 6 February 2020

‘The impact of Brexit on regions in Belgium and The Netherlands’
with
Professor Hylke Vandenbussche (KU Leuven) and Professor Frank van Oort (Erasmus University Rotterdam)

TFlanhe Flanders Department of Foreign Affairs commissioned Professor Hylke Vandenbussche (KU Leuven) to research how Belgium’s economy may be affected by a number of possible Brexit scenarios.
The first part of her research, focusing on the impact of Brexit on the national economies of the EU27 and the UK, was presented in London in September 2019, together with the “UK in a Changing Europe” academic group. You can download the paper here.
On 6 February, the General Representation of the Government of Flanders in the United Kingdom will host Professor Vandenbussche for a discussion of the second part of her work: “Brexit impact study: Regional, Provincial and Municipality-Level Analysis of the Impact of Brexit on Belgium”. This paper analyses the economic impact of Brexit on Belgium, with specific attention for the effects at the regional, provincial, and communal levels. You can download the paper here.
Taking part in the discussion is Professor Frank van Oort (Erasmus University Rotterdam), who has conducted extensive research into the regional effects of Brexit in the EU. Professor van Oort will talk about the potential effects of Brexit on regions and communities in The Netherlands.
The discussion will be held in English. Light refreshments will be served.
We welcome you to attend this event and the subsequent Q&A session which will take place on Thursday 6 February 2020 at 18:30. Doors will open at 18:00.
Professor Vandenbussche will also sign copies of her book The Brexit Saga: The End of Europe (click here for more information).
