Brexit Seminar 19th September 2018

19th September 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

€100

The BREXIT clock is ticking. With a hard Brexit more likely than ever, time is running out and all businesses should prepare themselves.

On Wednesday 19 September, The Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain (BLCC), in conjunction with PwC Belgium’s Customs & International Trade team, is organising the fourth session in a series of quarterly workshops in Belgium to discuss the potential customs impact of Brexit on the way you and your company will be doing business with the UK. This time, the event will take place at the Port of Zeebrugge.

With just over 6 months until the Withdrawal Date and still no political agreement between EU and UK on the withdrawal itself, a hard Brexit or no-deal scenario is more likely than ever. It is crucial to act and prepare contingency plans for the impact of Brexit, which will certainly affect every industry branch. Both the EU commission and different EU governments have asked businesses to start to prepare for all scenarios and in any case be ready for new trading and border arrangements between EU and the UK.

As usual, this workshop will give you practical insights and tips plus a case study of how other businesses approach Brexit. This time ECS European Container Services with HQ in the Port of Zeebrugge and daily shippings to and from the UK, will explain their plans and thought processes.

Mr. Alain Muyshondt, from the Belgian Customs & Excise Administration in Ghent will explain how the Belgian Customs administration is preparing on a system-based and human resources level (e.g. coping with the increasing import/export formalities in Belgium) in the run up to the withdrawal date. Next to that, he will discuss possible customs simplifications and the effects on VAT after Brexit.

The seminar will conclude with a short summary on the state of current affairs from a customs and supply chain perspective by an industry specialist.

The event will end with a Q&A session and a networking tour of the Port of Zeebrugge.

In light of the above, we are pleased to present you with our key speakers and panel during the seminar:

  • Mr. Joachim Coens – CEO Port of Zeebrugge
  • Mr. Alain Muyshondt – General Advisor – Belgian Customs & Excise Administration
  • Testimonial Didier Duponselle – Chief Commercial Officer D2D of ECS European Containers Services
  • Wim Pollet, Senior Manager PwC Belgium – Customs & International Trade Department
  • Mr. Michel Vanhoonacker, Chairman Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Moderator

The purpose and objectives of our Brexit sessions are numerous and we do hope that they will increase your awareness of the potential scenarios which can be expected and will also enable you to prepare your company in dealing with this complex and multi-angled issue.
