BLCC member Fox Williams are pleased to invite you to their annual Fashion Law seminar on Tuesday 15 October 2019 at their offices, 10 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1AF.

At this year’s seminar they are delighted to welcome two guest speakers:

• Simon Carter, the founder of Simon Carter ( www.simoncarter.net).  Simon will be talking on the subject of The High Street in the Post Stuff Age – how instore fashion retail can survive and prosper and why online is not the be all and end all.
• James Child who is head of Retail & Industrial Research at Estates Gazette.  James’s presentation will be “Retail fit for purpose: In and out of Fashion”.

If the turmoil in the High Street was not enough for fashion businesses to contend with, the issue of data protection and compliance with the GDPR has not gone away.  The fact that the last few months have seen the Information Commissioner’s Office take aim and fine a number of high-profile names is only the beginning.  A review of the ICO’s website ( www.ico.org.uk) reveals that every month the ICO is looking at businesses of all shapes and sizes in respect of their non-compliance with data protection law.  Helen Farr, one of the specialist employment law partners at Fox Williams, will be talking on “GDPR: the five key issues for fashion businesses when managing staff members’ personal data”.

A key aspect for a successful fashion brand is the price at which it sits.  Stephen Sidkin will be speaking on the subject of “Prices and the law: where are we in maintaining and imposing resale prices on buyers – and will Brexit make any difference?”

After the formal presentations there will be an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and then to network over drinks.
