On Thursday, 18th June, we were proud to host the third edition of our flagship summer gathering, the LinkLounge Belgian Summer BBQ. Held at the stunning Ovinto headquarters in Aalter, Belgium, we welcomed 50+ members and guests on home ground for what was our best edition yet.
With glorious weather, exceptional food and an outdoor setting, the afternoon delivered everything that has made this event a firm favourite in the BLCC calendar. As always, the event was free to attend for all BLCC members. This is just a part of our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for our community to connect, collaborate and celebrate our shared values. The wonderful mix of long-time members and first-time attendees made this gathering one to remember.

A skilled butcher took charge of the grill, while two outstanding Belgian partners kept guests refreshed throughout. Westmalle Trappist brought their world-class Trappist beers, and Ginger Jack introduced something new to the event, artisanal ginger-based drinks brewed in Belgium. Both proved a hit: those driving could enjoy a ginger drink, while others paired a refreshing Westmalle with their meal.
We were honoured to welcome Elizabeth McKinnell MBE, British Deputy Ambassador to Belgium, who addressed attendees on the enduring ties between Belgium and the UK. Also joining us were Lionel Orens (Economic Attaché, FIT London), Elias Suliman (Senior Investment Advisor, British Embassy) and Bruno Plaetsier (Colonel and Defence Liaison Officer, Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
The relaxed, informal atmosphere at Ovinto’s Aalter headquarters, generously hosted by Founder Frederick Ronse, gave members old and new the chance to reconnect on home ground. This is exactly what the LinkLounge series is all about: not only facilitating introductions and collaborations, but fostering a strong, engaged and supportive community of professionals who believe in the power of partnership.
The third edition has set a new benchmark. On to the fourth!
