From Suits to Spectacles: Belgian Craftsmanship on Savile Row

As part of London Craft Week 2026, two Belgian houses of craftsmanship come together on one of the world’s most iconic streets for a unique showcase of artisanal excellence.
Hosted at BLCC member Scabal‘s London location on Savile Row, Brussels-based lunetier Ludovic Elens will present the art of bespoke spectacle making, offering visitors a rare insight into this highly specialised and increasingly rare craft.
About this Event
This collaboration brings Belgian craftsmanship to the heart of London, combining tailoring heritage with artisanal eyewear. Visitors are invited to step inside the atelier and discover the meticulous process behind bespoke spectacle making, from initial design to final finishing.
Through live demonstrations at the bench, guests will be able to observe each stage of the process and gain a deeper understanding of the precision, materials, and expertise involved.
Masterclass Experience
A dedicated masterclass on 14 May 2026 will offer a more in-depth and interactive experience. Led by Ludovic Elens, the session will guide participants through the full creation process of bespoke frames, including:
- Initial client consultation and design sketches
- Material selection, including horn, acetate and metals
- Hand-shaping, fitting and polishing techniques
- The importance of comfort, balance and long-term wear
Guests will have the opportunity to engage directly with the maker, ask questions, and gain practical insight into this living craft.
Open House
In addition to the masterclass, visitors are welcome to attend the open house from 11 – 16 May 2026, where live demonstrations will take place throughout the day in a more informal setting.
