Driving solutions for infrastructure improvements to support Belgium-UK trade
Europa Road

European road freight specialist Europa Road BV in Belgium is working to ease congestion between the EU and the UK to ensure the seamless movement of goods.

Ostend-based specialist UK road freight operator, Europa Road BV, provides premium full load, part load and groupage services between Belgium and the UK.

Part of Europa Worldwide Group, Europa Road BV is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding smooth trade by welcoming UK Member of Parliament Jim Dickson at its UK transit facility in Dartford (Kent), where discussions focused on how best to reduce bottlenecks impacting EU freight.

This visit is one of a trio of initiatives, tackling congestion, including participation in the local Chamber of Commerce roundtable and further talks, hosted by Europa in February 2026.

The conversation concentrated on the Dartford Crossing close to the transit hub, which supports almost half of goods vehicles moving between the UK and the EU, making it a vital connection for trade. The only fixed crossing across the Thames is 32km east of London. The Dartford Crossing is an essential hub for freight coming into and out of Europe, being just 110km from the main channel crossing and the busy Dover Strait.

This is the latest in a line of initiatives the firm has invested in to ensure goods from EU customers are not delayed. Europa has also come out in support of a new “Lower Thames Crossing” infrastructure development. Costing over €10 billion, the new route will improve trade through a tunnel beneath the River Thames, doubling road capacity.

Strategically located, giving it fast access to the EU, Europa’s state-of-the-art 27,000 sq. m transit hub – the largest European groupage facility in the UK manages over 40,000 consignments of goods every month between the EU and the UK.

“We are committed to providing solutions for our customers which reduce delays, tackle congestion and ease any challenging pain points for our operation. This latest meeting with Jim Dickson MP shows our approach to focus on actions which support the optimum quality of service for our customers.” – Tom Jenkins, Central Services Director at Europa Worldwide Group

Europa has had a presence in Benelux since 2018, when it acquired unaccompanied trailer operator Continental Cargo Carriers (CCC) in Ostend. The operator was rebranded and relaunched as Europa Road in 2022. Latterly, Europa Road expanded further by establishing a Dutch office in Rotterdam in 2023.
