SUMMARY:Bringing Communities Together - An Evening of Impact
DESCRIPTION:The BLCC is pleased to extend an invitation to its members to share this special event\, Bringing Communities Together – An Evening of Impact\, organised by PAGS and supported by several international chambers. \nThis evening offers a rare opportunity to reconnect with humanity through real experiences\, culture\, education\, and community\, brought to life through personal storytelling and reflection. \n  \nAbout the Event\nAn evening of conversation\, reflection\, and connection inspired by a recent journey through Bolivia by Giovanni and Luisa. \nGiovanni and Luisa are not activists\, politicians\, or professional speakers. They are Europeans who travelled\, listened\, helped\, and returned profoundly changed by what they witnessed. Their experience forms the foundation of this authentic and personal evening. \nTheir journey revealed a striking contrast between Bolivia’s extraordinary natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage\, and the daily realities faced by communities living with limited resources\, inequality\, and hardship. This contrast creates space for meaningful reflection on themes such as education\, dignity\, human connection\, and community support. \nThe evening is designed to encourage open and thoughtful conversation rather than formal presentation\, bringing people together through shared understanding and lived experience. \nSee full event details \n\n  \nWhat to Expect\n\nPersonal stories and imagery from Bolivia shared by Giovanni and Luisa\nReflections on education\, dignity\, inequality\, and community impact\nInformal networking with guests from education\, business\, and international organisations\nA warm Italian aperitivo featuring Parmigiano Reggiano\, prosecco\, and regional products from Reggio Emilia\n\n  \nThis event is open to educators\, professionals\, chamber members\, and anyone interested in community engagement\, education\, inclusion\, and meaningful social impact. Places are limited to maintain an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Early registration is recommended. \nReserve your spot

SUMMARY:Fox Williams: Agentlaw Seminar - "the key issues for 2025 for agents and distributors and principals and suppliers"
DESCRIPTION:BLCC member\, Fox Williams\, invites you to join their annual agentlaw seminar on Tuesday\, 25 November\, which will be held in person at our offices at 10 Finsbury Square from 6.00 pm. \nAt the seminar\, their speakers will address the following topics: \n\nWhen it comes to obtaining orders\, secret commission is to an agent as a back hander is to an employee–partner. Evie Meleagros and David Williams discuss the issue of unauthorised remuneration of agents and employees and the problems which arise for both payer\, payee\, and principal and employer following recent legislative changes.\nCalculating an agent’s indemnity entitlement on termination of the agency agreement under the Commercial Agents Regulations\, Steve Sidkin dispels some urban myths and considers whether indemnity can ever be better than compensation for terminated agents.\nBeware the terms on which you trade – for suppliers and distributors alike\, the question needs to be answered\, “Are your terms of trade fit for purpose?” following a spate of cyber hacking incidents over the last 12 months. Associate Guy Haslewood will provide his thoughts.\nAuthorising agents to act – recent judgments highlight the need to ensure that your agents/representatives/brokers are properly authorised. Associate Jessica Howard discusses the cases and the consequences if they are not addressed.\n\nThe seminar will be chaired by Steve Sidkin\, partner and chair of the agentlaw team at Fox Williams. \nAfter the formal presentations\, there will be an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and then to network over drinks and canapés. \nTo register\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Kindling of the Torch
DESCRIPTION:The Kindling of the Torch is a short ceremony held each year in Westminster Abbey at the beginning of November to commemorate the re-lightning of the permanent flame at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the end of World War II after it had been extinguished by the German occupier. From Westminster Abbey the Torch is transported to Brussels in a pilgrimage along the many war cemeteries\, in time for the 11 November ceremony at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. \nThis event is not organised by the BLCC\, but members may join the Ceremony. \nDue to logistical reasons\, the number of guests is limited. Registration opens in September 2025.
